Following the sad news of the imminent closure of the Cineworld cinema in Weymouth, we are pleased to announce the return of cinema at the Royal Manor Theatre on Portland.
"We recently hosted our annual Rocky Horror Picture Show event at the Theatre, and following the closure of Cineworld, we thought it right that the community has a space to see films without having to travel to Dorchester." said Neil Highley, who is running the film nights. "Using a community film provider, moviola helps us to keep costs down, but that still means we can get new and interesting films to show at the Theatre. Our massive 4K screen has served us well in the past for everything from Rocky Horror to Coco."
The first two films to be shown at the Portland Cinema will be Vindication Swim on December 14th, and Wicked Little Letters on December 28th. Vindication Swim is a fascinating docu-drama chronicling the first British woman to swim the English Channel. Wicked Little Letters is a hilarious village comedy starring Oscar winning Olivia Coleman and Jessey Buckley as warring women.
The films admission is at a low £5 per ticket, with a bar and snacks available from the Lower Hall.
